MGM Resorts International’s Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas is set to put an end to its iconic Jewel Nightclub. While the company provided no official reason for the closure, reports suggest that the venue might have been struggling for a while.

MGM and Tao Group Hospitality Agreed to Close the Club
As it turns out, the Aria will be closing the Jewel Nightclub on November 21, 2026. While the venue has been operating for a decade and has a long history of hosting celebrities, MGM Resorts confirmed that the closure will be permanent.

MGM explained that the closure follows a mutual agreement with Tao Group Hospitality, which was responsible for operating the club. The company added that MGM guests who wish to engage in the Las Vegas nightlife can do so at the Marquee at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

As mentioned, MGM did not provide a reason for the closure, but reports say that the club’s workdays were reduced to two a week, suggesting that the venue had been struggling for a while.
For reference, the Jewel Nightclub opened on May 19, 2016, amid a period of high demand for nightlife offerings. It was initially operated by Hakkasan Group and, like many other Las Vegas clubs, Jewel bet on hosting celebrities and famous DJs to capitalize on younger audiences.

In 2021, Hakkasan Group was acquired by Tao Group Hospitality, which was, in turn, acquired by Mohari Hospitality two years later.
Jewel Hosted Many Celebrities and Pro Athletes
For years, Jewel remained an important landmark for Vegas nightlife enthusiasts. With the capacity to host up to 1,925 guests, the venue was renowned for its dazzling LED-studded dome and VIP suites.
The venue’s opening night celebration was hosted by Jamie Foxx. Over the years, Jewel also hosted the likes of Drake, Usher, Lil Jon, and The Chainsmokers.
In addition, Jewel has previously welcomed pro sports teams, such as the Las Vegas Aces and Golden State Warriors, for various celebrations. In addition to that, Jewel was where UFC prez Dana White threw a party celebrating the sixteenth birthday of his daughter, Savannah White. The party featured performances by Lil Uzi Vert, DaBaby, Louis the Child, and DJ MAKJ.
Jewel effectively replaced Aria’s Haze Nightclub, which opened in 2009 and closed in 2014. This reflects an ongoing cycle in the Las Vegas nightlife, showing how demands can change and a market can become saturated. While the Sin City nightlife is no less popular today, the abundance of social restaurants, lounges, and bars has shifted some of the dynamics away from nightclubs, such as Jewel.
